panmure bridge

Image result for the second bridge in panmure
Did you know that the first bridge built in Panmure was a swing bridge because people needed the bridge to spin from Pakuranga to Panmure bridge so that boats can go in and out.

When Panmure Bridge was built in 1865. Until that one became unsafe then they built another bridge that was the second bridge built in 1916.

Then the second bridge was made of iron from Sydney and kauri trees. They drove a big steam roller over the bridge to show that it was strong. The second bridge was used for 43 years until it started to crack.

The third bridge was opened in 1959 that is the bridge we still have to this day. That bridge is built of concrete and boats can go under  to the other side of the bridge.

Bridges helped people transport their goods to other places before the 3 bridges were built they had to cross the river it was difficult and was dangerous to cross.

Today we were writing a story about the first three bridges in Panmure was used for over ten years when the first bridge was built the second bridge was used for 43 the third bridge was opened in 1959. this is the bridge we currently use.
